The Irish  Government  have nominated the Mayo Peace Park  to host a National Day of Commemoration for the region , this will take place on Sunday the 14th of July 2013, the event will start at 1pm  ( 13.00 Hours ) This is a very prestious event  and all are invited to attend .

The Annual General Meeting of the Mayo Peace Park committee, will take place in the Welcome Inn Hotel,  Castlebar at 8pm on Wednesday the 3rd of July 2013.

The "Sweeney Clan" are gathering  to visit  the Mayo Peace Park on Saturday the 15th of June,  an Taoiseach Deputy Enda Kenny,  will be on hand to welcome them  to county Mayo.

Local Mayo family  members of the extended "Sweeney  Clan" are invited to attend .  A wreath will be laid in memory of eight  Mayo born  soldiers of the Sweeney Clan  who died in the  first world war.

Mr Ted Sweeney and his brother Vincent , the sons of the late Ted Sweeney, of  the Belmullet, man who famously  supplied the important weather forecast , which gave the Allied Commanders the confidence to launch the D.Day landing, a event which turned the tide of the second world war.

The  sad death has occured in London of Mr Martin Sweeney, Castlebar , he was a brother of Mr Ernie Sweeney, a  flag officer and committee member of the Mayo Peace Park .  We want to express our deepest sympathy  to Ernie and  all the members of the extended the Sweeney family.
